May 20, 2014 at 4:51 amHey all
THIS IS A FIX! – YAY!
Or at least it worked with me. It’s easier than you’d think.
UNPLUG YOUR DRIVE.
Turn it off.
Plug it back in.
Open project (hopefully with this error gone)
Make media offline
Relink media.
BE HAPPY.OUT….hopefully.

July 27, 2014 at 11:18 pmRemoving the “/” from the file name worked for me too. Since my scratch disks were unavailable it also caused the infamous “Error compiling movie: Unknown Error” message when trying to render or export. (Which I spent hours trying to fix). Stupid me for leaving a forward slash in the file name in the first place I guess. Thanks for the solution!

November 7, 2014 at 7:28 amSeems like the problem was in “/” symbol in the name of project.

December 2, 2015 at 3:25 pmYou just saved me a world of hurt…I wish I could just give you a million bucks in thanks (unfortunately I’m broke…but at least you know my feelings for your wonderful fix to my problem). BTW, I’m running PR 5.5 on a PC windows 7.

January 14, 2016 at 11:51 amCHECK YOUR FILE NAME – IF OU SAVED IT WITH ANY STRANGE CHARACTERS EG / + = * ^% etc THEN IT WILL HAVE SCRATCH DISK ERROR AND THEN YOU WILL GET THE ABOVE MESSAGE. DELETE THAT CHARACTER FROM YOUR FILE NAME. IT WILL FIX AUTOMATICALLY (IF THIS IS THE CAUSE) THANK YOU SO MUCH SETH GOLDIN!!!! LIFE SAVER.
