PPRo 4.2.1 crash after Quicktime 7.6.5 update
This morning, I installed the Quicktime 7.6.5 version update and this evening when I open PPro 4.2.1, it quits as soon as I open a project. If I uninstall QT, PPro works, but without Quicktime functionality. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?

Go back to 7.6.4 or the one you had before your update…

That’s what I just did, back to 7.1.5, but the drag is that I lost read support for ProRes on the PC. I’d like to see if there is a way to run the newer version. Last time I got a ProRes file, I had to go over to a friend’s house to convert it to something else.

PC pro res playback is a separate install file, nothing to do with QT on its own. do a search for it it’s a plugin.

Thanks for the link, but Premiere Pro crashes with any vesion of QT, 7.5 or better and the plugin only works with 7.5 or better. It was an install of the plugin that prompted me to install a new version of QT.

I’m running 7.6.4 and it all seems fine on win7 64 with ProRes Decoder installed and PPro 4.2.1.

I’m running XP 32bit SP3. The Win 7 upgrade is in the near future. My guess is that it’s a three way problem, PPro, QT an something else not liking each other. I was hoping someone out there might have an idea.

Its quite possible there is a third app thats giving grief, I’m currently running studio premium with with all updates and QT 7.5.5 on win 7 pro64 and have no problems. -
Reverting is what I had to do. My machine is WinXP. Soon I’m gonna do a full rebuild to Windows 7 64bit, and I’m hoping that will allow me to install a later version of Quicktime.
On an un related matter, what software did you use to do your screen capture for the youtube clip?

I’ve heard some other people on Win7 64 say they are OK.
Thanks for the tip on Camtasia, I need to look into that.
