  • Posible to use different size video within the same timeline?

I am using v5.1.4 and am trying to use two different sizes of video within the same timeline but video is quite distorted. Fairly new to FC and forum….Please help as I am so far unable to figure out. Thank you.

You can scale the wireframe to fit within the frame. What is the exact trouble? Also, while you are learning, you probably should hang out at the FCP Basics forum. It’s for people just like you.

Thanks Kevin…I will be sure to check out the site. As for the particular issue I am having: I am wanting to use HDV 1080i 60 footage (shot with SONY HVR A1-u) along with DVCPRO HD 1080i footage (shot with Panasonic HDX 900). In thier own seperately configured timeline they look great (and no rendering necessary)! However, once I try to combine the footage, some very obvious distortion occurs after I render (like interlacing or strobing?). Am I wrong thinking that FCP was able to combine various formats easily? Does this make sense at all? Thanks again Kevin

It will playback, but it is for preview only and is not the be all end all when it comes to quality. My suggestion would be to take the footage that is used the least and then convert that to the other format via Compressor.
