Photos edges not smooth when exporting video
Hi,
I’m producing a video slideshow with some photos, music and some video footages. I’m working in FinalCutPro 7.0.3 and the sequence settings are
25fps
1280×720
AppleProRes 422 HQThe photos are around 2596 × 1886 300dpi. I’ve exported them from photoshop in TIFF square pixel and they look great when I import them into FC. Some photos are slightly rotated and when exporting the video in QT the overall quality is very good, but the edges of the photos are not linear but rather look like stairs.
I’ve tried different degrees of export settings, included AppleProRes 422 HQ, 25fps, 1280×720 but still no luck with the edges.
Can somebody give me an advise?

Aliasing is what that artifact is called. I’m guessing your video is interlaced and not progressive?

I think so, not sure where to check this.

Right-click on a clip in your timeline, find the “reveal properties” there. Report what it says. Next, click on your sequence icon, then go to “sequence” up at the top of your screen, get the info on ALL the sequence settings. Post that info here. Pay particular note to the words: “field dominance”, (if any).

On sequence properties field dominance is NONE, and also field dominance NONE on sequence settings from top menu.

So all your footage is already progressive, not interlaced. Hmmm. Is Final Cut scaling your still images on import, or leaving them at native resolution? Are you then re-scaling them to fit? This is a choice set in User Preferences>Auto-Conform Sequence, checkbox “Always scale clips to sequence size” should be unchecked.
Beyond that, I got nothin’.

I’ve unchecked that option but I’m still experiencing the problem. Any ideas?
