    Hi There-

I’ve looked throughout the forum for the answer to my question so please link me if my question has already been answered.

I recently shot a concert and had 3 of my cameramen take a drive home with them (they live together) to offload their footage so I could chop it up in Final Cut Pro 6.0.5

They gave me the drive back with a folder for each P2 card, labeled Card 1, Card 2, etc. Inside the folders are the “Contents” folder and the lastclip.txt file.

When I try to import the the “Card __” folders I get the message from Final Cut Saying: “Card __” contains unsupported media or has an invalid directory structure. Please choose a folder whose directory structure matches supported media”

All of my card folders have the Contents and the text file in them, so I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong.

    PLEASE HELP!!

    Thanks,

    Pascal

The CONTENTS folder has a particular structure.

Does it have AUDIO, CLIP, ICON, PROXY, VIDEO, VOICE folders in it?

Yes, it has all of those folders.

In addition, I’ve just encountered problems with the card folders that do work when logging/transferring. I have a couple of card folders that will que up fine, but then have the Stop sign/exclamation mark once they’re done transferring.

How long are the shots? If the camera was rolling longer than roughly 11 minutes (or 4 GB) at a time this may be causing the problem. FCP 6.0.5 seems to have trouble capturing long clips.

The short answer would be to grab section of the clip about 10 minutes long and import them.

Use the out of the previous clip as the in for the next clip.

When you string them together in the timeline they will play fine

I thought it might be that too, but I’m having this problem on clips that are 1-3 minutes as well.

When I hover over the error symbol it says “Error: No Data”

#36 – One or More P2 files failed to import.

Shane’s Stock Answer #36 – “One or more clips failed to import…”

Very often in the field with this camera the camera operator will delete clips from the P2 card that they just don’t like. That is the beauty of this camera. But, the still for that video file (located in the CLIP folder in the CONTENTS folder)…the still that you see when you are in the P2 Import window…is not deleted. So you will see the image, and the name, but the video file would have been deleted.

What you can do it compare the file names in the VIDEO folder and CLIP folder and see if anything is missing. If something is, then you know what the problem is. You can then just import the rest a few at time, skipping that one.

ALSO…in the P2 Import window…in the P2 Browser, there is a little sprocket drop down menu. Click on that and choose PREFERENCES. Uncheck REMOVE PULLDOWN and then try importing again.

ALSO…make sure your file names aren’t too long. Try shortening them and see if that works.

ALSO make sure that the folders that contain the CONTENTS folder doesn’t have any odd characters like /!@#$%^&*()?.

    Shane-

My cameramen didn’t delete any clips while shooting, they shot continuously until their cards ran out. I can scrub over the video in the L/T window, so I know I’m not just looking at an image/name.

My CLIP and VIDEO folders match with file names

I tried removing the pulldown and still nothing.

My file names are not too long

and I don’t have any unusual characters in my folders.

I’m seriously out of ideas on this, I don’t know why its not importing.

    Hi guys,

Has anyone had an issue where by there P2 shot media is not showing in the Log and Transfer window when using Final Cut Pro 6.0.5 I have been using P2 media for almost 2 years with no problems. But I have just pointed Log and Transfer window to my shot P2 media and it will not show in the main media window. I can see the media (folder structure) on my hard drive but it will not list the clips in the media window. The only thing that has changed is I have installed the RED suite of Applications this week and REDCODE QT Codec v3.5.

    Has anyone had this experience?
    I have tried deleting preferences.

Thanks for any help on this one!

    Steve

No offense but you should probably start your own thread since your problem has absolutely nothing to do with the problem I’m describing.
