Just a quick little rant today.

I received an email today from Apple inviting people to sign up for their Studio 2 touring seminars starting soon. See what you missed at the NAB Convention! I couldn’t make it out there this year due to editing committments, so I thought this might be a good way to see the new Studio 2 in action. A quick look at the map to see what cities are featured and, not much to my surprise, nothing is being offered even close to my location. I live in the upper Midwest. You know, it’s that part of the country that most people fly over while going from one important city on the East Coast to another important city on the West Coast.
    HEY APPLE!
There is a lot of countryside in the MIDDLE OF THE COUNTRY as well as on the coasts. How about paying attention to us once in a while? How about a show at least in Chicago? It’s a four hour drive for me, but I’d do it. (and have many times in the past…Heck, I used to live there.)
Anyhow, we FCP folks on America’s Heartland would love to be noticed every once in a while. We spend $$$ as well. Just a thought for today.

OK, that’s off my chest. Back to work now…

I have to agree, I’m a little surprised that Chicago is not on the list, but I think the tour is pretty consistent with what they have done in the past.

The only thing I will say is that if you are really interested in attending, it will probably be worth the one day flight / hotel to the nearest city. A lot of things really make sense, even to see a quick 10 minute demo, than asking a lot of questions on the Cow later.

If anyone is going to the Atlanta stop, let me know.

From the same area. Same thoughts. Chicago is a 5-6 hour drive for me, all I need is a reason to go and I’m there. I am looking at going to the Atlanta conference myself. I do feel your pain and wish that they would offer this closer to our area.

    Chill out man.

They are only offering it at the places they are because they know they at they will get good turn outs there. Those places are MUCH larger markets, and larger markets mean more people.

These seminars are held in large convention centers and they jam in as many people as they can. You just basically set there for hours listening to them talk and watch then show you things projected on a screen. As far as hands on things there is probably little to none.

Look at it from Apples perspective. Who do you want to reach the most? The people with the most to spend right. And the people with the most to spend are most likely located in the large markets.

There is not one located near me, I am located in Utah. And I am certainly not going to complain because I would have to travel to see it. If I can expense an little vacation an an opportunity to visit family in LA then great.

    So calm down man.

Yea, that’s why I’m waiting for MacWorld to return to NYC.

Just being fair here, I think Chicago is probably a bigger market than Atlanta. I know in terms of the TV ratings Atlanta is either 9 or 10, not sure where Chicago falls there. But in terms of market size, certainly Atlanta and Chicago are comparable.

Perhaps the seminar presenter is a National League baseball fan, and chose the Braves at 12W and 7L over the Cubs at 7W and 12L.

But they should at least put a seminar in Milwaukee in that case, at 12W 7L.

    Get this…

I live in the Memphis, TN area. We have an Apple store here and absolutely nothing is presented in it concnering professional product offerings from Apple. Surprising isn’t it? Seems like a waste to have an Apple store in a major metropolitian area were FCP is widely used (or would be more if there was more of a presence).

I always thought the best way to see and do NAB was from home with a good web connection…..

    FYI
    Chicage is market #3.
    Atlanta is market #9.

Chicago and the surrounding areas (Milwaukee, Twin Cities, Detroit, Etc.) have a very large user base of FCP and Studio.
Don’t get me wrong herre. I’m not mad, just a little dissapointed. The Chicago area should be worthy of a roadshow.
It’s difficult to take off and travel several days just to demo the software. I have several of the Studio 2 upgrades on order. It would just be nice to get a little bit of a preview before it arrives. I also have new Mac Pros on order as well.
I could take off, but if I do, no work is getting done and, at least so far, I haven’t found a way to get paid if I’m not working and billing.
I’ll just wait for Studio 2 to ship and keep an eye on the Cow for any late breaking news. 🙂

I agree. Someone needs to invite a remote control NAB webcam monkey.
