    It’s OT I know is anyone here running a Quadro 4000 card successfully on Lion? I enjoyed grading my last FCPX project on Resolve but I really needed the CUDA power to help.

    and this might make things interesting

    BTW not really off topic since this forum is moving towards more of a state of the industry direction as some of us hoped it would. FCPX is just the trigger for a much broader discussion. It certainly feeds into what might (or might not) replace the MacPro.

    Lion has the Quadro drivers already installed so it’s not that bad. You do need to go to nvidia’s site and download the CUDA drivers. They show up in System Preferences. Once you install, open the panel and check for updates. Once you have that, you should be good to go.

    FCPX is more like the house that just burnt down, and as long as we’re out here and warmed by the embers we might as well talk about other stuff, but every once in a while people go back to trying to figure out what caused the fire, and then tempers flare and fingers get pointed.

    Sort of.

    We just installed the cuda drivers and it seems to work fine. We did, however, install those drivers while logged in as the root. Lion’s permissions have changed and the “admin” no longer is part of the root group (or wheel group, to be more specific). Here is an interesting post regarding the matter;

    We did NOT do a clean install, but it seems to work fine.

    Bring those marshmallows and whisky over to my new house I’m building . . . with FCPX. There’s no hot water yet but the furniture moves out of the way as you walk through. Never again will I bang my knees.

    EXCELLENT.

    LET US ALL NOW GO TO THIS TERRIFYING POLTERGEIST HOUSE WHERE WE TRY TO PICK UP OUR PRECIOUS INTUITIVE TOOTHPICKS WEARING STAPLED OVEN GLOVES WHILE THE CUPBOARD SKIDS PAST US.

    MMMM. DELECTABLE.

    I AM NOT BRINGING MY WHISKEY.

    Hey but how else can we get good and soused and run around and actually have fun watching the furniture move. Just think, there’s no chance of falling over it. But I wont be to blame when the chair moves as you try to sit down. I really like this moving furniture stuff. It’s very easy to unpack when I ask for ale mugs and they appear out of three boxes into one place.

    It sounds like you’ve already imbibed the entire bottle.
