NVIDIA Card with Yosemite and Premiere causing major graphics failure

Hi Bob,

Of course Cuda isn’t there, you have install the Cuda driver manually. So, all your experience tells us is that your previous installation had issues, and that you don’t have those issues now, but it’s impossible to infer anything else.

Now, if you were to clone the working boot drive, then try installing the latest Nvidia drivers and the Cuda driver, the results would be much more useful to all.

My issues seem to vanish when I switch to the default Mac OS driver (little Nvidia button at the top lets me do this). CUDA still works. Excellent video performance remains.

Can you be more specific about where the little NVIDIA button you’re referring to is?

Top of the desktop, along with the Adobe Cloud icon, dropbox, Time-machine, etc. I have a Nvidia Icon. “Graphics Drivers” drop-down.

It still acts up when Premiere is running and I open mail, etc. but it goes away immediately and I have zero trouble in Adobe applications.

Which version of CUDA are you running? I have never seen a Menu Bar option for NVIDA before.

Do you have Nvidia driver manager installed? Is so, you can turn the menu bar option on and off in preferences.

The same option to switch drivers is on the first page of preferences,

I’m only seeing Nvidia desktop management software on their site and in a google search. and it’s only for windows. could you provide a link (if you know of one) to download “driver manager” ? thanks so much.

Select your card type, OS. When I enter my info for my Mac’s Quadro K5000, I would choose to search for the ODE Graphics Driver in the download type.

thanks I’m running the GTX 680MX and I don’t think a driver manager exists for that card after searching. 🙁
