Posted by Willy Pimentel on November 28, 2012 at 1:11 amI would like to ask about the favorite tecnique for Video Noise reduction. I uploaded a screen shot of the video noise and would like to find out how to fix this problem. The image was shot again a bright sun….
Now it is up to me to fix this issue.Willy Pimentel

November 28, 2012 at 12:16 pmIf I’m not mistaken, Magic Bullet Denoiser II is still not compatible with FCP X.
Neat Video gets great comments everywhere. You could crush the blacks a bit too?
Kind regards,

November 29, 2012 at 6:52 amTRIED THE DEMO OF NEAT VIDEO AND IT IS REALLY AWESOME. ONE PROBLEM THOUGH, ONCE I APPLY IT TO A MULTICAM CLIP, IT CRASHES… I HOPE I DON’T HAVE TO APPLY THE FILTER TO THE WHOLE LENGTH OF THE VIDEO. ….

November 29, 2012 at 12:21 pmIf you read their notes, you MUST apply the filter to clips in your timeline. I know it would be easier to do it in the multicam angle editor (tried it myself and had the same issues) but not yet.
Best,

November 29, 2012 at 5:19 pmI Found out that optimizing the cores solve the problem.
Now here is the question. I have a timeline of of multicam clips. Is there a way in fcpx to render those clips underneath that I am using and then relink to the clip underneath .
I just don’t want to open the angle editor and apply it to the who long clip?
What should I do?Willy Pimentel

November 29, 2012 at 5:53 pmYou could always render out your footage with the Neat filter applied to a new clip and THEN put it in your multicam.

November 30, 2012 at 12:13 amRemember theres a metadata “flow” in X.
Applying filters to elements upstream is always preferable to applying them downstream if you want to leverage your choices later.
So applying filters to clips in the Event Browser and rendering them THERE means that the pointers to the code for those filtered and rendered clips is what will arrive in subsequent projects. This saves HUGE time if you use the same clips in multiple projects.
But if you apply effects downstream at the “timeline” level, the effects won’t be stored with your originals and you’ll have to “re-apply” the effects every time you use those clips in new projects.
Since you can always tell X to “strip out” the effects metadata at the project level simply by unchecking the filter, working as far “upstream” as possible is often a beneficial practice.
I can’t imagine you’d EVER want to start with the “noisy” footage rather than the denoised footage. So that indicates it would be smart to apply the de-noising to the clips in the Event rather than to clips in the Storyline.
FWIW.

I will try tonight directly to events

November 30, 2012 at 12:33 pmI’m a happy customer of Neat as well . Very sophisticated and the author/guru actually has helped me with tuning it for difficult clips, he requested a clip and tried out settings or gave advice.
The interface is a little clumsy but that’s cause it was hard to rewrite for X I’m sure he’s working on it
Failing as fast as I can at writing producing.
