The SDX900 can record in dv25 mode, but only on DVCPRO tape of course.

April 3, 2005 at 10:32 amMy guess is 1280×720 chips with both vert&horiz pix-shift, so it gets better luma resolution for 1080p.

April 3, 2005 at 2:07 pmDVCproHD supports 1080i60, which if it were a normal tape camera could have 24p “embedded” just as we embed 24p into NTSC 60i on a DVX100. But, as far as we know, this P2 camera doesn’t embed the data in a higher frame rate, but, instead, just records the individual frames. The codec, being the type tha compresses each individual frame seperately doesn’t really care about frame rate – decks do, but there is no deck here.

April 3, 2005 at 4:45 pmNoah, are you saying that in 1080p24, the HDX200 will record with 3:2 pulldown to P2? Or are you saying it just records the 24 unique frames per second.

April 3, 2005 at 6:24 pmI believe that Jan Crittenden addressed this (I can’t remember which forum) by saying that for 1080p24 the 24p is indeed embedded in a 60i signal, just as it is for SD 24p, as you described.

April 3, 2005 at 10:25 pmYes, I just read that elsewhere, and all I can say is “That’s totally daft!”
