It appears that we can actually burn blu-ray straight from FCP 7 now. See the new video from Ripple Training below.

It even gives you a few menu template options.

Ah, Bag. Thanks. I guess “world” would be a bit hyperbolic.

No LiveType is a problem. I have MANY projects that use LiveType that are updated regularly. What will display now when I call up an older project that used LiveType elements in the new Studio? And if I load LiveType separately from Studio 2, will FCP7 still recognize the files and will I be able to update then with the changes being reflected in the FCP timeline? Definitely going to be a problem in my work flow.

No, Tom, I think what he’s saying is that if you take the time to update your LiveType projects to Motion projects, then it means that when you need to make changes to the text, it can be done from within Final Cut. Making changes in LiveType always meant round-tripping (stop what you’re doing in Final Cut, go to LiveType, make the changes, save, and return to check your work). But Motion templates can be edited from directly within Final Cut Pro. No round-tripping is required.

Ah hah… I see said the blind man!

Well, you have two option here… One don’t upgrade anymore or convert all of your LiveType projects into Motion projects.

Like your signature says, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.–Ferris Bueller” Well, you’re on the super highway and a new off ramp is coming up.

Thank you for posting that tutorial.
While it isn’t full on Blu-ray authoring it does at least allow you to make a Blu-ray disk to give to your client.

This is a HUGE advancement for us.

Lots of us are still looking at all of the other stuff. But how many here have to output to DVD or the Internet for every project – client approvals. I would bet a large part of us.

Now, we don’t have to export a Quicktime file from FCP, open in Compressor to compress it and send it to the Internet or to DVD Studio Pro to make your DVDs. Let’s not talk about Blu-Ray as we know it currently.

A HUGE TIME SAVING and SPACE SAVING FEATURE!

Was really hoping real-time keying of alpha graphics would become part of RTExtreme.
Having to render even simple lower thirds is a killer on a graphic intensive sports show. It’s crazy we that we can do many streams of video but can’t key in real time. Avid’s been able to do this for years.

Maybe FCP 7 is optimized for Snow Leopard. From the ProRes white paper:
“Testing conducted by Apple in June 2009 using prerelease Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard and shipping
Mac Pro 8-core 2.93 GHz units with 6GB RAM and a Mac Pro RAID Card. ”

But why is there still brushed metal? Come on, how hard would it be to make it matte grey like all the other apps? It just makes it seem dated.

It really doesn’t look like the major changes we were expecting have happened, let’s see if Snow Leopard wrings any extra speed out of it. However I have to say it looks like the biggest winners out of this latest version may be Adobe.
