July 23, 2009 at 6:15 pmwhat they mean when they background rendering in compressor.
You can render in compressor while still editing in Final Cut on the same project

July 23, 2009 at 6:39 pmI noticed something going through the new Final Cut Studio 3’s pages. All the products, except DVD Studio Pro 4 is being shown on a MacBook Pro. Color 1.5 is being shown on a MBP along with an external display. Is Apple trying to tell us something? Are they saying it’s designed for mobility? What are your ideas?
Just something that caught my eye.

July 23, 2009 at 9:39 pmjust had a mail to say my order is going to be delivered tomorrow. I’m not mid project and I’ve got a couple of new projects to start that aren’t time critical, so I guess we’ll give it a try!

July 24, 2009 at 12:46 amWas really hoping real-time keying of alpha graphics would become part of RTExtreme.
I can only agree! While we’re at it why can’t we have proper support for a codec like Animation through the RT Extreme engine seeing this is the only decent uncompressed RGB codec around? It’s crazy we that we can do many streams of video but can’t key in real time. Avid’s been able to do this for years.
Some things just don’t make sense. Like Shake, Motion and Compressor having optical flow technology but Final Cut doesn’t. Why? My workflow in general is:– Input > Final Cut > Shake or After Effects or Mocha > Final Cut > Output
I’m still forced to solving speed effects in either Shake, Motion or After Effects (I sadly don’t trust Motion, every project I’ve tried to get through that program has been nothing but sluggish performance and bugs).

July 24, 2009 at 12:55 amThe entire UI of Final Cut should have seen an overhaul years ago. DVD Studio Pro saw it in version 2.0, Sound Track got it, Motion, Compressor… Why does our editor get the treatment? It looks fairy “patched” at the moment (unless something has changed in 7.0).

July 24, 2009 at 1:13 amKevin Monahan reports in another thread that the new Pro Res 4:4:4:4 codec will play at full quality in real time with an alpha channel….so apparently we have realtime keying.

Yes, but P2 is so much easier to say than ‘Panasonic’s implementation of MXF’. Doesn’t quite have the nice ring of P2. ;-D
