[David Roth Weiss] “So, DaVinci here I come…”

The water is fine. The AAF round trip now works better than the FCP/COLOR path ever did. You can choose to apply the “Motion” tab, the secondaries are far superior, the tracker works, you can grade greenscreens in context with an alpha generated composite in the Resolve timeline, you can import rotoshape travelling mattes… it plays real time, it supports chase audio… its a long list that Apple was never going to be able to incorporate.

You mean “Old Ben”? Ben Kenobi?

[Herb Sevush] “Why doesn’t DaVinci lite meet your needs? The price is certainly right.”

The price is certainly right Herb – that’s for sure. And, initially the lite version is absolutely the ticket, for me and for anyone making that move. But, there’s still the learning curve to deal with, or should I say, yet another learning curve. And, eventually lite probably won’t cut it, and so paying the piper of the full-blown DaVinci will undoubtedly have to be done at some point.

The bottom line is, investing in hardware and software these days is tantamount to investing in a boat, which as the old adage goes is, “a hole in the ocean into which you pour money.”

Great info JO… That makes me want to dive in immediately, and makes we want to kick myself for waiting so long.

[Joseph Owens] “And a corollary question for the “versatile relational database container facilitators”, when do you think we will see an AMPAS category for “fastest editor”?”

I would invite you to (re)read David B’s article on Lightworks and see what the editors “keep coming back to”.

    [Mont Sherar] “VERY well said!”

    Mont,

Unless you use the “q” button to quote the person you’re talking about, as I did above, no one on the forum will have any idea what the heck you’re referring to.

Here are the Cow instructions: To include any portion of the post in your response, highlight the desired text and hit the “Q” key.
