That’s right. Lagarith is an AVI codec and you must render to the AVI format in order to use it.

Sure, lot’s of ’em but I’m not sure why you are asking this question. What difference does it make? These are for your source files not your final deliver format. Why do you care if they are AVI or not? Just convert the files, edit your project, and render to any format you’d like in the end.
BTW… AVI to Windows is the equivalent of MOV to a Mac. It is the platforms standard video format for capture and editing. WMV is a highly compressed delivery format and should not be used for editing, only for delivery.
