Mask through multiple video tracks?
Posted by Joe Wik on June 20, 2018 at 10:18 pmHi,
I am trying to mask through 2 tracks.
On my first track I have some video effects generated. Below that track I have a still image. So the effect is moving in front of the still image.
But below these 2 video tracks there is an other image. I would like to create a circle mask through the 2 tracks and show the 3rd image in that mask which is the bottom track. (I need that 3rd image on the bottom as a separate track because I am also animating that, so in the masked circle there will be the bottom track animated.)
Is it something possible?
Thanks,

My initial thought is that an Event Mask reveals that which is directly below that Event and not two Tracks below. Interesting. . . . I’ll have a go ????

June 21, 2018 at 4:08 am[Joe Wik] “Is it something possible?”Hmmm? You gonna need to give more explanations
1] Upload a view of your Project Timeline
2] Just exactly what and where you’ve applied the FX on T1
3] Some indications of your Masking thus far.
You may have over-complicated this. Can you create a drawing of what it is you finally want?

June 21, 2018 at 8:16 amHi,
Yes sure, I created an image to show what I am trying to do.
The blue background is my main image. Above that I have an other track and some video effects from a media generator (represented by the white lines).
So basically I need a circle where in that circle I can animate something. I could do this with only one track and mask that main image so we can look over it and see the animated image in the circle.
But now I want to add some effects over the main image.
Hope it explains a bit more what I am trying to do.

June 23, 2018 at 8:03 amJust wondering if this was solved as I don’t yet quite understand the sequence,
Anyway, do you mean something like this where you have a object in the Mask hole of the Main Image but also you want moving items on top of the Main image.. which seems to be what you are saying.. well it does to me ☺

June 23, 2018 at 10:45 amSo all is behind the Main Image….
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RqJQNhefd20If this is not what it is then maybe you can upload your Veg file so I/We can see what’s what.
The moving items are only png files whereas you might be using animated gif for the items behind the Main Image?
The only animated gif I used is for the water ripples
Maybe Graham has figured it out….

So the arrow and ball should move behind the whole animated circle. And not in the circle.

June 23, 2018 at 5:07 pmLets get this crystal clear…..” So the arrow and ball should move behind the whole animated circle. And not in the circle”
Let’s start at the beginning…
1) You have a MAIN IMAGE with a Masked hole in it ?
2) In the MASKED hole you have some sort of animation ?
3) You want the OTHER animations to move behind the FIRST animation.. In my case a DUCK?
4) What is the difference between .. “The Whole Animated Circle”.. and NOT in the Circle? What is the “The Whole Animated Circle”.. which I assume is the LARGE HOLE… and NOT in the circle…which it the masked hole…
I guess we are missing some key explanation for myself and Graham who have not yet fathomed it out.If you move items behind the MAIN image with the Masked hole you wont see them.. only where the MASKED hole is.
Last chance saloon…
John
