  marking edit point in rendered clips

  I was wondering if there is way to mark the edit points in a quicktime clip which has been previously edited similar to the way DV start/stop detect would work?. I dont think such a shortcut exists, however it seems that it would be an extremely useful tool if anyone has found a way.
