    Howdy

    Here’s where I’m at…
    I want to make an animated lower thirds and a text box for our Avid editor to use as an effects matte (basically I’m just rendering it out straight + alpha, and then he can bring into the Avid and use it over the footage). The lower thirds/text box have an animate in and an animate out, with some subtle animation loops in between (like light streaks, etc).

    Here’s the problem…
    I’ve done this very similarly before, BUT I adjusted the timing according to each individual sequence the text or image was over, and then rendered each one out. So I ended up with lots of the same lower third or text box that would just fit certain sequences. However, for our next project, we have tons of these lower thirds/text boxes, but don’t quite have the time to render individual ones out.

    Here’s the question…
    Can I (and if so, how?) make basically a “one size fits all”… in other words, it animates in, can loop for however long the editor chooses, and then animates out?

    I’m thinking I can separate it into seamless sections… an animate-in part, a long middle that can be cut to the proper length, and an out part, however this may prove to be too much work for the editor. BUT before I do this, I want to get other ideas of how you might go about this.

    That’s how I would do it… and too much work for the editor?! They LIVE to edit things together (;

    The only thing to be concerned with is the end of the middle animation and the beginning of the end animation may not line up properly without some precision edits. You might try rendering out a 5 second loop in of middle animation in which the beginning lines up with the end of the intro animation and the end lines up with the beginning of the outro animation. Then the editor can repeat this clip indefinitely on the timeline until it’s been up long enough (you could use a 2 second loop if you wanted more flexibility, but it might be more evident as a loop).
