I’ve got a client who wants me to take his HDV shoot short film, which has been down converted to SD, and run it through Magic Bullet, or something like it, because he really feels that by doing so, it will change the look of the video to match that of the 24P mode on the DVX100 or HVX200 – or just closer to film. I don’t have that much experience with Magic Bullet, but after running a short test (with other footage) in an older version (1.1) of it, it didn’t seem to me to do that. In fact it was quite jittery, and the image (not surprising to me) looked like video that had something done to it….

Anyone here use Magic Bullet to take 29.97 to 24P and had great success with it. I’m sure it’s a great product. I’m not sure why my client wants change it – he’s not going to have a film print made, but as I said, that’s what he wants…

I know enough to know that if you want a film look, shot 24P with a camera that does it, light really well, and have a good lens – video shot 29.97 on a small camera is going to always look like video that’s 29.97.

    Anyone have any input….

    Thanks!

    Eric

Yeah…I checked the footage in PPro in a 23.976 timeline…

It was shot with a Z1U, but not in 24 Cineframe mode, it was shot 29.97, and it didn’t have the pulldown added…
