loosing content of connected clips and secondary storylines
Posted by Georg Schmitt on December 27, 2014 at 1:58 pmHello,
I am working on my first serious project in FCPX an keep loosing the content of connected clips and secondary storylines!
Empty secondary storylines with fades remain.
VERY frustrating and embarrassing to explain to client!!!I back up the storyline every day, but it is a pain to recover!
I’m on OS 10.10, FCPX 1.4.
Any help greatly appreciated !!
Thanks ahead
Georg

December 27, 2014 at 2:54 pmWhen you import your media do you COPY it to the Library? This is the best way to ensure that nothing is ever missing or off-line.

December 27, 2014 at 3:22 pmIf it’s just connected clips disappearing. I would assume this is unintended user error.
Use the tilde key (~). That keeps all connected clips in place when trimming, slipping/sliding, replacing clips in the primary.
If you have a connected clip and want it to remain in place while the primary clip is edited, hit the tilde first, then perform the edit.

December 28, 2014 at 12:13 amI wish I knew, but I think they get selected (outside of my visible screen)
through a keyboard command that I use! -

December 28, 2014 at 12:34 amI’d start with using the tilde key before adding anything to the primary storyline until you figure out the cause.
I highly doubt any clips are simply disappearing without some sort of user interaction.

December 28, 2014 at 11:27 amCould you post a screenshot? Are the files disappearing completely or are they appearing to be going offline/unlinked?
It does seem odd.
