May 12, 2005 at 3:14 am[Bob Zelin] “If you boys would simply use the AJA HDP (or Decklink HD Link) and a Sony
SDM-P234b for $1999, you will get a 23″ full 1920×1200 resolution, and not have to worry about the 800 line limitation”Not a chance. LCD blacks look horrible IMO. Not to mention pixel inconstancies. Until LED officially comes to market, I’m sticking with CRT for the NTSC/PAL monitor. The PVM is doing great as is.
[Bob Zelin] “aside from the fact that you can’t even get the PVM-20L5/1 anymore.”
They’re out there. Although I may get another one before they really are all gone. Truly a great monitor. Shame on Sony.
[Bob Zelin] “And just for the record, I would take an “old” PVM-20L5/1 ANYDAY over the “new” Sony Luma LDM series.”
Absolutely. Those Luma displays are pure junk. It was very amusing seeing the Sony reps at NAB run around the floor dodging PVM questions. Again, shame on Sony.

May 12, 2005 at 3:17 amWell yes, in the case of long distances, SDI is a wise choice. But even so, at the point of monitor-contact, either the Sony card or an AJA converter will do the same thing in the end.

May 13, 2005 at 4:32 amQuestion from someone who doesn’t have a Kona2 yet…
when it downconverts from HD to SD real time,
is there a preference to let you either crop for 4 by 3
or show the full 16 by 9 picture and have the black at top
and bottom?Thanks,
