  • Kona LHi residual audio static

Just set up Kona LHi with Mac Pro Harpertown 2.8 eight core running Final Cut 6.0.6. It worked fine for a few days, but now I’m getting a strange residual audio static every I stop the playhead, whether I’m editing, watching in the viewer, or playing back via the timeline. It’s like it’s echoing the last few seconds of audio, but with a very annoying static burst mixed in. It trickles off to silence, but happens again each time I move the playhead. Anybody comes across this? I checked my amp, but I’m getting the static signal into my mixer, which is directly out from the Kona.

    Any thoughts?

Are you running your system sounds through the Kona?

    Yes.

Try turning that off and see what you get. If you need system sounds through your audio monitors, simply send a cable from your headphone/line out of your mac into your mixer.

I get the same thing, and I don’t have my system sounds sent to the Lhi. It was bad for a while but its only once in a while now.

Thanks for the response. Under “System Preferences,” I set all my “Sound Effects” to play through the internal speakers, and Audio Input and Output set through the Kona.

    Still have the problem.

[David de Vos] ” and Audio Input and Output set through the Kona. “

Don’t set those to Kona. Set the output to Headphones or Line Out, and the input to internal mic.

Okay. Did that. Still no change. Darn gremlins…

    AJA Control Panel
    Control Tab

    1) make sure you are not on “input passthru”
    2) are you on FREE RUN, or EXT REF. You better not be on VIDEO IN.

    3) if you are on EXT REF, what is your black gen ?

    Output: Test Pattern

    Genlock: Freerun

And if that doesn’t work, try an uninstall and reinstall of the drivers.
