    Hi!
I’m anticipating getting a pc that I can edit some video files. It will be a quad smething or other with 8 GB of memory an a terrabyte drive. I’m tired of trying to render a 5 minute video and it taking 30 minutes to save it to disc. I am also looking at a JVC camcorder but it saves files in the .mod format. Apparently, this format is not used in programs like vegas and I will have to convert it. Some internet sites say you can simply rename it .MPG Others say this wont work as 16:9 is rendered as 4:3 others say you will only get video this way, not audio. I am mightly confused! Will the .mod file work with vegas or should i look at another camera. I absolutely refuse to buy different cameras and pay restocking fees each time.

Bullies don’t grow up. They just grow old.

Window explorer, Click com right-click and select view all files. Drag to the timeline and ready.

I’ve dropped .mod files on my Vegas timeline with no problems whatsoever.
I’ve also renamed them to .mpg and they’ve worked just fine.
BTW, I would never transcode these files (already a lossy format) to another lossy format (mp4) as you’ll lose even more quality by doing this.
