hi all – this has ben bugging me for ages… i don’t imagine there is a solution, but I will share my frustration with you anyways….

so say I’m working in the timeline and I want to duplicate the comp…. I go right-click reveal in project…. ctrl-d in project window to duplicate…. THEN if my project window is really long with folders open it jumps straight to the top… so I have to scroll all the way down again before hitting RETURN to rename it. Then after I rename it, ae jumps back to the top of the list again and I have to scroll all the way down to find the new Comp again….. too much scrolling for nothin’……

    am I just lazy?

What version you using? For me (AE7) I command d the comp and it gets the same name with a number added to it (comp > comp2) and it is right below the comp I duplicated. My project window is also sorting by name.

AE7 Mac – Yeah mine does the same thing….except, that if my project window is longer than one screen i.e has a scroll bar – AE will jump straight to the top of the list…then I have to scroll down to find the one I just duplicated….then when I rename it it jumps up again so I have to scroll down and find it a second time….

it’s not so bad just once or twice… but often If I’m working on a long project with similar compositions I may be doing many of these duplications….
