Izotope Spectral
Posted by Roger Bansemer on March 3, 2013 at 5:48 pmIs there a way to select an audio event and open up iZotope Spectral Analysis without saving that event as a totally new and separate file?

March 3, 2013 at 6:49 pmIf I right-click on a audio event in the Vegas timeline and choose for OPEN IN AUDIO EDITOR, Vegas will crask. If I in contrast choose for OPEN COPY IN AUDIO EDITOR, Izotope will open and I can do what I want with the audio file.
Ofcourse you must have set Izotope as your preferred audio editor (OPTIONS-PREFERENCES-AUDIO)Theo

March 3, 2013 at 7:02 pmI do have it set in preferences to open as editor but it only opens the dialog box and not the spectrum graph which is what I need to see where to erase, etc. a portion of the event.

March 3, 2013 at 7:48 pmAh ha! Opening in Open Copy is the secret however when I do open it along with seeing the spectrum, when I go back into the project all my audio is muted except that one event I just opened in iZotope.
I have to do a Ctrl/Z in order for the audio to come back to life so I can hear it.I am appreciating your help.

March 3, 2013 at 8:03 pmIs Ctlr Z not abolishing the izotope effect? If the events on the timeline remain in the MEDIA OFFLINE state, you can simply minimize and maximize Vegas. That will bring Vegas back into the active state.
(BTW, I recently had a look at your website and I was VERY impressed about your work. If I will ever be in the US again, I hope to visit you and have a look at your paintings in real)

March 3, 2013 at 9:59 pmThat’s strange. I have never seen that. I always save within Izotope.
Recently I had some problems with Sony’s Production Assistant that could not be explained by John R. A simple re-install of Windows solved that problem. Maybe it also solves your problem.

March 4, 2013 at 5:50 pmVegas normally closes open files when another application becomes active. Have you opted to disable that in preferences?

March 5, 2013 at 1:45 pmI’m not finding where that check box is. Would you please tell me more specifically where to look in preferences? Thanks
