November 11, 2009 at 11:02 amWhat version of Vegas do you have and is it it Pro or Movie Studio?
Where did the video come from? -

November 11, 2009 at 4:03 pmThe video came from a SDHC card. I have Vegas 7.0a. I’m not sure if it is pro or movie studio.

And how did it get on the SDHC card? In other words… what is the make and model of the camera that you used to record the video onto the SDHC card?

When you click Help | About what does it say? In version 7 it didn’t say Pro. So it will either say Vegas 7 (which is the pro version) or Vegas Movie Studio or Vegas Movie Studio Platinum.
I’m going to go out on a limb here and guess that this is a brand new h.264 camcorder and you are trying to use it with 3 year old Vegas 7 software. This is most likely not going to work. The video industry has been introducing new video formats almost every year and if you want to edit video from the latest cameras, you are going to need to use the latest software. Vegas is currently at version 9.

November 11, 2009 at 6:00 pmThe video came of a SONY video camera. I do not know the model or any other information. The camera doesn’t belong to me. Video I have tried to work with in the past also will not work as far as the audio goes.
I am running Vegas Pro.

November 11, 2009 at 7:26 pmAmanda, download and install Gspot codec information appliance, drop the file on it and tell us what it says is required for a video codec.
This information will be under the Video section on the top right of the screen. -

November 11, 2009 at 10:01 pmI suspect that the video is h.264 which Vegas 7 does not support. We’ll see after you get the GSpot results. In that case, you’ll have to convert them to a format that Vegas 7 can handle.

November 14, 2009 at 12:55 amDownload and install the demo version of the MainConcept MJPEG codec.
As long as you’re not using it to encode, it won’t put the watermark on the output. -
