December 20, 2018 at 2:57 pmMOV is not a format it is a wrapper.
There is no codec for video that includes alpha which is going to be small in file size. All of the alpha containing codecs are intended as intermediaries which typically have less compression of frames as well as having no I-frames; both of which will dramatically increase file size over standard delivery codecs.

December 23, 2018 at 12:58 amAdobe did not dispose of a PNG codec – it’s still there.
The only format I know with alpha that’s deliverable in smaller files sizes is WebM, and some old school FLV flavors, but I don’t think either of them embed well in PowerPoint.

December 23, 2018 at 1:16 amHi Natai. I’m a little confused about why you need an alpha background in a PowerPoint presentation? If it is overlaying an image from another projector then using a black background will block the light coming from the projector and have the same effect as an alpha.

December 23, 2018 at 11:51 pmHi. Sorry I didn’t mean to be confusing, my comments had nothing to do with the actual rendering question you asked. I was just pondering and personally couldn’t think of any case where I would need an alpha in a Powerpoint presentation and was curious as to why you obviously have a need for one.

This app, SimpleSupers.com let’s you use PowerPoint as a character generator with your production switcher. It generates an alpha channel from the slide and let’s you input key and fill into your switcher. Great for lower thirds, logo bugs, etc. And it plays out text animations, etc.
We use it every week at our church for live titles and playing our intro/outro.
