  • [HELP] Audio out of sync!!! ..it’s QUICKER than video!

Posted by Master Of desaster on November 22, 2005 at 8:42 am

First of all, sorry for my ugly English!

I use a (new) multibridge SD with huge audio problems. My audio is QUICKER than my video! The Video is 100% sync. Any frame is there where it has to be but my audio goes after 1-2 min. faster than my video! Some day ago I finish a project and bring it on tape. I need the whole day to master 2 x 90Min!

First tape was the normal cut. The second tape was the same cut but with masks and effects so that I have to render the whole movie before. Both movies playing perfect in the timeline. Anything is in sync. I start with the first tape (normal cut) and, oh boy, I have to bring the movie in pieces of 1-3 Min. on tape so that the audio is (mostly) in sync. Than the second (rendert) version. Guess what, I start the process an never stop it until the end!!!

The next day I do some tests. Now I can say that the audio is after 10 Min. 4 frames quicker and after 30 Min. it’s around 10 frames. I de- and reinstall the Decklink and Multibridge driver, try also the 5.2. and the 5.1 Decklink driver without luck. I de- and reinstall also PPro but…

ANY driver on my system is the newest. The whole time I use the 10bit – Decklink codec, AVI’s and assemble mode. The whole system is working perfect (ok, I got some “…serious error..”) but anything else works great without exporting to tape…

    Who can help me???

    Regards
    R

    Hi,
I also faced exactly the same problems.
Please check my experiances and temp. solutions on my post “Audio sync problems” Dtd 30 th sept. i had the same problem but my time line was much more complicated but audio was one clips

    My temp. solutions solutions were
    1. Complete all your work and when you are ready to do master to tape. reboot the machine restart premiere pro, open your project and without doing anything else do master to tape. For driver ver 5.0 , 5.1 & 5.2. 95% of the time this way there were no outsyncs.

    2. Use driver ver 4.7 or 4.8 , but on assemble edit you have to punch from one frame before, as the first frame is some random frame followed by rest of the master in proper sync. so instead of punching from say 09.59.30.00 i used to punch from 09.59.29.24 (PAL) and the later reinsert the stupid frame with black

I have not checked ver 5.22 as i have not done a similar new project from last 1 month.

I hope this helps you in some way. Rest decklink has to help

    good luck

    Hi,

Your problem sounds very similar to a support note named Video increasingly lags behind audio in Premiere Pro. Please follow the suggestions in this support note and let me know if it helps.

    Hi Luke

Thanks for your answer but this is NOT the problem.

First of all, the video is on the right place. Any cut is there where it has to be and no dropping frames. Second, my RAID is pretty quick. The SpeedTest tells me: 192 MBs Read and 176 MBs write. The Disks was up to 70% filled. Third, I read this Note before and bring the Audio on an separate Disk (10.000 upm – WD Raptor 76GB). The LED lights any 2 second for this Disk. Think that tells everything but here is also the SpeedTest: 57 MBs Read and 61 MBs write and its ONLY for Audio!

I install the Beta-Driver that you

    Hi,

Thank you for reporting the results of your testing. I will ask Andrew to respond to you as he is more familiar with Premiere problems.

In the meanwhile, can you please try using Blackmagic Deck Control to capture and playback from your deck. Does it encounter similar problems?

It would also be good if you could perform a Blackmagic DV capture in Premiere and then output it back to tape. Does it encounter similar problems?

These two tests will help to establish whether there is a general problem, or if it is just limited to Premiere Pro.

    Hi Luke,

I’m testing last night a little longer (until 4 in the night) and I found something new! I turn off the computer and unplugged the Multibridge for a minute or so. Then plugged in the Multibridge and turn on the Computer, start PPro and export directly 40 min. to tape, IT WORKS PERFECT! When I try to export the timeline directly again, without shot down the computer and unplugged the Mutibridge – the export have the same Problems with unsync audio like before!!! I do the same procedure 3 times and it works all 3 times!

Today I will do the tests for you but as I wrote before, the clips playing perfect in the timeline preview and playing also perfect in the MediaPlayer. They are 100% in sync! I will try to do the DV capture in Premiere…

After a large Weekend of testing, here my results:

First I do *my procedure (description below) and try to using the Blackmagic Deck Control. I capture, playback AND record with the 10-bit BM-Codec. Everything works like a charm! I record the 1 hour clip 3-4 times without restarting the Computer or unplugged the Multibridge! PERFECT!

Then I start PPro and try to record a timeline like the days before. Failure! The Audio goes out of sync. Ok, quit PPro, go back to the BM Deck Control and try to record the same file that I recorded perfectly minutes before and… it failed! After *my procedure I can record that file again how often I want without problems.

Ok, I do *my procedure and start with the second test, the Blackmagic DV capture in PPro. I capture a 40Min. clip via Multibridge from my analog DVCPro Recorder (AJ-D 650A), not via system Firewire because I have not a Firewire Recorder/Player. Than I put the Clip in the Timeline and Export it to Tape. Perfect, it works. I record the Clip 3 times without *my procedure and have no problems.

    But…

    …than I thought, it

    I have had similar problems.

This product has some real problems, this being a rather disastrous one.
