Don’t ever use the “Rotate” in FC.
This is from the FC manual:
How Rotation Affects Motion Filtering Quality
When you adjust a clip’s Rotation parameter, the clip is automatically rendered using the
Fastest setting, regardless of the option chosen from the Motion Filtering Quality pop-up
menu of the Video Processing tab of the current sequence settings. For example:
    – If you adjust a clip’s Scale, Center, or Anchor Point parameter: The clip is rendered
using the motion filtering quality option chosen in the Video Processing tab of
    the current sequence settings.
    – If you adjust only a clip’s Rotation parameter: The clip is rendered using the Fastest
    motion filtering quality setting.
    – If you adjust a clip’s Rotation parameter as well as additional motion parameters: The
clip is rendered using the Fastest motion filtering quality setting because the
    Rotation parameter has been adjusted”.

Now, does this mean that it’s rendered at the fastest motion filtering quality for viewing purposes only? Or are you saying it will also render poorly when I hit cmd+r or when I export it?

For rendering Dustin. Not only for preview. And this force any other Motion change (Scaling, crop, etc) to be rendered Linear.
You can make a test with the Flip/Rotate in QT player. This do not affect to the quality of the picture, neither is needed any exporting or rendering. Is just to tell QT to display the picture upside down. The picture will look like that in any QT application as well. Easier than turning the monitor that way.

Thanks for the info. I had no idea.

Hopefully I can set up Automator to help me with the QT flipping.

    Hey Dustin,
Use the Flop filter, it’s what it’s for.
Opent the filter in the view and on the cutomise pull down for horizontal or verticle, choose both.

    No render.

    Regards,
    Chris

The INSTANT way to pull this off.

    1. Double Click the file you want to add the effect to.
    2. In the clip viewer window (left video screen) select the FILTER tab.
    3. Add the FLOP effect (Effects–> Perspective –> Flop)
    4. The effect is now shown on the EFFECTS tab
    5. Select BOTH
    6. Continue to keep this clip the active clip
    7. On the timeline select all the other clips you want to rotate
    8. With the FLOP effect still being shown in the clip viewer window click on it, continue to hold the mouse button down, and drag the effect onto the group of selected clips on the timeline. Let go of the mouse.

All of your clips have just been rotated 180 degrees with no render time. Takes 2 seconds.

This is THE way to pull this off.

    Hope it helps!
