November 15, 2018 at 9:57 pmJust adding a couple of press releases:
Final Cut Pro X introduces third-party workflow extensions
Since someone mentioned timecode…

And….
Frame.io Introduces Powerful Workflow Extension for Final Cut Pro X

[Steve Connor] “[Oliver Peters] “Since some of you were ragging on Resolve for playing “catch up”, let me point out that Workflow Extensions and Batch Share are merely features that “catch up” to similar features in Premiere Pro ☺
”You beat me to it ☺
“????

November 15, 2018 at 10:17 pm[Jeremy Garchow] “OK, time to test frame.io!!!!”
So this is awesome. I hope we can dock the window in the Event Browser one day, but for now, this is a killer feature that I miss from the Adobe panels in Ae/Pr when working in FCPX.
General FCPX performance seems to be on point as well!
I don’t know what the rumored 10.5 was supposed to be, but there are some real workflow enhancements in this update, (Comparison Viewer, Timecode, better selection tools, and finally, finally a batch share!!!!)
All this and I haven’t even explored the new Comic filter, yet.

So does this mean that we can all agree, as adults, that Apple has given sufficient warning about a planned EOL?

It doesn’t matter what the end of that sentence is, and I think you know the answer. ???? In any case, a vendor providing detailed worfklow information for people who want it is always a good thing, and it’s nice to see Apple raising their game in this regard.
It’s funny, for the Extensions in particular, I’m kind of thinking of this release as a Throwback Thursday celebration of the days when Apple robustly and creatively partnering with third parties wasn’t news!
I don’t mean this as faint praise, or snark for its own sake. It’s snark in the service of HIGH praise. LOL

November 15, 2018 at 10:42 pmI’m happy to see .srt files working in the captioning now… that saves me some cross-conversions.
I’m hopeful this “extensions” approach will lead to a flurry of third-party providers adding in interesting and powerful new “toys” in the toolbox. I think it bodes well for making FCPX viable long into the future.
It still bugs me that I can interactively drag around on a piece of video in FCP7’s windows to move and distort, it but I only have the sliders to do that in FCPX… or did I miss something in the manuals?

November 15, 2018 at 10:48 pmRight click in the viewer to get crop, distort, and position tools.
There also keyboard shortcuts listed next to the tools in that same drop down.
