final cut pro 5.1.2 won’t launch
Posted by Camilla on December 1, 2006 at 3:46 amfinal cut pro 5.1.2 was working fine on my machine
I moved all my media from my internal hard drive to an external drive
everything appeared to be fine
then I deleted all my media from my hard drive
rebooted
then final cut would start launch and basically abort w no message after going through part of the launch
then I did a clean re install and update
still won’t complete the launch
any ideas?
the only suggestion someone has made to me is to re-install yet again
all suggestions appreciated
Thanks!!

December 1, 2006 at 5:49 amWhen you deleted your media, what else did you delete?
Have you trashed your preferences?

December 1, 2006 at 5:55 amthat is the million dollar question
what did I trash unintentionally
when I went to prepare to reinstall Final Cut (because it wasnt launching)
I went first to look for the preferences in the library, to dump them
and they were not thereoddly now that I have reintsalled Final Cut there still is no file in prefrences
The only wierd thing from around the tme I dumped the media files was that I was prompted to select the scratch disk.. it couldnt find something so I just indicated the scratch disk I wanted it to use
and then it never worked again
I have nver been able to or had the chance to reset the scratch disk againgrazie

User folder > library >preferences > final cut pro user data ?
Sorry to be so rudimentary here, but I am just being thorough.

This does it for you. Just click TRASH and it trashes your prefs…

If I go to my internal hard drive library folder there is no file or folder refering to final cut at all.I was looking for something I thought would be called com.apple.finalcut.preferences

Nope. Go to your Hard drive, then go to your user folder then the account folder (the one with the little house icon named whatever your computer is named) the go to library then find the final cut pro user data folder.
Don’t go to the library folder at the root level of your hard drive.
Make sense?
