Final Cut 7 renaming cuts
Posted by Ivo Burum on September 11, 2009 at 7:06 amFinal Cut Pro 7 seems to have a bug. Working on a sequence in a project we are experiencing the following -when we add an element eg; a wipe that maybe called ‘Wipe 2’ – FCP7 renames the sequence name to ‘Wipe 2’; if we add a shot, FCP7 changes the sequence name to the shot id. What’s going on? be careful what you trash! Many thanks.

September 11, 2009 at 12:56 pmwe have had the same problem. Sequence renames itself to the name of the last clip added.

September 11, 2009 at 4:00 pmDo either of you have FREEZE FRAMES in the sequence? I hear there is a bug that when you add a clip after a freeze frame, it does what you describe.

September 11, 2009 at 11:18 pmWe’re now seeing the exact same behavior here when pasting material from one Sequence to another.
We’re using one of Shane’s methods to work on a large project and when compiling all the timelines together, the main Sequence changes name each time we do a Paste. Seems to pick a random name in the timeline to change it’s name to, but it’s always the name of one clip.
No Freeze Frames anywhere in the project.

September 11, 2009 at 11:22 pmAs a follow up, I just had the same sequence change names three times as I was collapsing tracks. Really weird behavior going on now…..

Old projects don’t have the issue, but three of my new ones do. Trashed prefs etc… Nothing works.
