November 9, 2009 at 8:36 pmI’ve got it even worse. All of my sequences are changing their names. If i change one, they all change. All clip names also change if I change the sequence name. Match frames are generally not working either. Strangely, each clip DOES know its correct time code, reveal in Finder does work properly, and EDLs come out OK.
I’ve tried copying and pasting from project to project, no luck. Resaving project, no luck. And I’ve tried many other things but have no solution so far.
Anyone?

November 9, 2009 at 9:00 pmThe solution is to update to FCP 7.0.1…run the SOFTWARE UPDATE option for this. This specific issue was addressed.

November 9, 2009 at 9:46 pmI’ve been on 7.01 since it came out. I was hoping to discover the that 7.01 IS the problem, because it definitely isn’t fixing it.

November 10, 2009 at 2:08 amI posted the original concern. We have since experienced all the problems identified in the threads. 7.0.1 was not the fix for us. We fixed the ‘total renaming’ issue by removing FCP and doing a clean re install. We had to do this because our audio files all had the same name and consequently our OMF files could not be read in Pro Tools. Onward and upward. Is the real issue the relationship between FCP with Snow Leopard?

November 10, 2009 at 3:49 pmWe are not on Snow Leopard, so I’d say that’s not it. I did remove freeze frames from my sequences. That did not help with the clip names, but now I can at least rename my sequences. I’ve also been able to successfully replace shots manually by putting in time codes with the correct clip – match frame now sends me to the correct clip, but shows it with the wrong name.

July 29, 2013 at 9:09 amHi there,
I’m experiencing the same thing with my FCP, and I’ve read the entire thread and there doesn’t seem to have a solution for the problem. As the thread is several years old, I wonder if anyone has come up with a solution with the same problem.
In short, my sequence will be renamed as the last clip that I put in the sequence and change again when I add another new clip to the sequence. If I rename the sequence, all my clips will be named after the sequence and I can’t match frame. I tried removing my freeze frame, but it doesn’t help a bit.
Thanks in advance for any help.

July 29, 2013 at 4:26 pmThe solution is to update FCP 7 to as high as you can go…7.0.3. This was a bug in earlier verions.

July 30, 2013 at 5:26 amHow many years is this now (almost 4) and FCP still has these bugs. Notwithstanding all the great advice and using the latest edition is probably a first step, back then we had to reinstall FCP to fix the bug. The real issue to day is support for FCP 7. It ain’t gunna get any better with Apple !
