  • Exporting 16×9 as 16×9 FHA

Posted by Steve Mullins on October 15, 2013 at 1:55 pm

I have a Music Video that needs to be sent to the broadcaster meeting their spec.

Thing is, they want AP 422 HQ at 1920x1080p – 16×9 FHA – sure if its squished up to FHA this wouldn’t be 16×9 ?

How / what settings do I need to do to export a 1920x1080p as 16×9 FHA within FCP7 or MPEG Streamclip (which has all the below option bar a ‘anamorphic’ option).

There is a 1080p AP 422 HQ Easy Set up with Anamorphic?

    Heres their spec

That spec makes ZERO sense. If the delivery was SD…it would, because SD is 4:3 only. So you either letterbox or squeeze…FHA. Except in the case of PAL, where even SD is 16:9.

HD is not anamorphic…it is 16:9, period. Why someone is asking for 16:9 FHA 1920×1080…befuddles me.

I guess you can make it 1440×1080….that’s 4:3.

Perhaps what they mean is they want the 16:9 to be without letterboxing to create a wider frame than 16:9. However the terminology is wrong. FHA specifically means anamorphic format which is not required when pixels are 1920 x 1080 and 16:9 already with square pixel.

Better check that they do just want 1920 x 1080 16:9 square pixel.
