If I ingest with Prelude it just copies the BPAV folder. This creates a problem as I can’t rename the files. At least I don’t know how. I would like to convert to .mov files but this compresses the file way down unlike FCP that does a clean uncompressed conversion. I don’t see a way to convert to .MOV without compressing. Am I missing something? I would like to rename my files but have always been told to never rename anything in the BPAV folder. I don’t want to create another folder to put it in as this would make way to many folders on my drive when I have several hundred clips I am downloading. I just want one folder with all the renamed files inside. How do I do this?

    Hey Ron,

My cursory understanding is that it will simply copy native media if you either:

    1) Don’t choose to do any transcoding
    2) Don’t to partial ingest via logging, which would inherently, require a transcode to make new media files of the selected sections

    hope that helps…

    Alex
