  • “European format” Delivering sequence to a user in Italy

I am trying to deliver a video package to someone in Italy. I have sent the video to them a few times and they are having trouble viewing it. In the latest exchange they can hear audio but can’t see video. I have sent it to them in PAL format… They keep asking for it in European format. Is it possible this is just a frame rate problem??

Bottom line — Whats the best way to export the video so it is high quality but viewable to this user in Italy??

Sorry Dave — My thought was to cut to the chase and find out what WOULD work…

    Here are the det’s

It was exported using ProRes 422 (hq) Pal
    25fps
    Field Dominance Upper
    Size (720×576)
    file size was 2.4 gb
    Sequence was about 5:30

    Hi Christopher,
    Those specs are OK, but,
are you sure they can read Prores?
    What system are they using?

Part of the problem is that I am communicating with the producer who doesn’t seem to know much about video specs and all the guidance I received was “send us the video (.MOV for the Europe System) in high quality resolution.”

Is there a “one size fits all” codec for Europe that I can export the file with. Or some other setting — they say they can hear the audio but are having trouble seeing the video.

Will they re-edit the clip, or just play?

as far as I know they are just running the sequence. NOT re-editing

They need to have the current version of QuickTime to view this. Older versions may not have the ProRes playback component.

    All the best,

    Translating Italian into English: Easy.
    Translating “client-speak” into English: Harder.
    Translating “Engineer-speak” to “Client-speak”: Hopeless.

I’ve asked them to upgrade QT. Anything else worth trying?? As suspected they have gone home for the day

You could maybe send them the version of quicktime that you have and that you know plays the sequence and get them to install it?
    Matt.
