Enable 4:4:4 chroma filtering
I’m just beginning post on my first 5D project. I tested the E1 plugin versus Compressor for transcoding and it looks like Compressor’s output is slightly better quality. Namely, the E1 output is brighter and thus you can see more noise in the low light shots.
I am wondering about the “Enable 4:4:4 chroma filtering” option that is on by default when selecting the ProRes 422 preset in Compressor. What does that do? Should I leave that on or not?
I did see this thread:
https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/8/1016606#1016606…but I couldn’t verify it either on the Cow or the web.
Really, I’d love to understand what it does and why I should or should not use it.
Thanks in advance for your help,
