  • Eliminating frame blending from slowed-down 24p footage in a 30p timeline?

There are a lot of threads out there about frame rate conversion, but I couldn’t find anything for my particular scenario.

What I am doing is a tutorial of sorts in a 30p timeline. Most video is in 30p. However, I want to include some old footage shot in 24p in the timeline. However, for illustrative purposes, I want to slow down the 24p footage so the viewers can better observe the effects I added to the footage. At first, I slowed down the footage by 50%, but the footage had a strobe effect and had every other frame blended with the one before it. I figured this might be because at 50% speed, the footage was 12 fps, which doesn’t go evenly into 30. So what I did was I instead set the speed to 62.5%, which would make the footage exactly 15 frames per second, which I figured would show up as the same frame every 2 frames, which would then show up evenly in a 30p timeline, eliminating the frame blending. However, this is not the case, and the frame blending/strobing is still occurring. If anyone can suggest some solutions to this problem, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

    Turn frame blending off.

Ah, thank you millions. I knew there was a frame blend option in After Effects, but I didn’t realize there was one in Premiere. Problem solved, much appreciated.
