We’ve got Chyron’s Duet/Lyric, and I’ve been struggling with it. I’m looking for a good training source, but find that most are geared towards sports or news. I work at a public television station, and we use it for live concerts, debates, live-to-tape studio productions, etc.

I’m looking for training that is hands-on that will cover the basics of navigating, positioning, recording, switching buffers (all of which I can do, but inelegantly) – but also deal with creating graphics, animations, and playing video clips.

We’ve had a few trainers in, but with three students and one screen to squint at, I find it hard to learn anything. We’re public TV, so sending all three of us to Chyron isn’t feasible ($$). We did have them send out a trainer, and we didn’t get far because it wasn’t hands-on. We’re limping by with this machine, but want to understand it better and become more fluent.

Any suggestions are welcome – Midwestern sites especially.

    thanks, Jen

I understand your position. I work for Charlotte Public Television but we avoided Chyron. I’d look for DVD tutorials or other after market products that provide individualized training. Also, go on the Chryon users forum and ask questions there. Your manuals may not be great but fighting you way through them will help you understand what the box is supposed to do. It will take time, but it can be done. Best of luck.

Is it possible to send your best learning and teaching person to Chyron School?
The school is excellent, and it is hands on. I highly recommend someone go, then come back and teach everyone else while the information is still fresh, the teaching others helps in retention of what you learned.
