We have a short program that was shot and edited on XDCAM-HD. Now we want to down convert and dump a copy off to Betacam tape.

We have a Io-HD. I went into Kona Control Panel and changed the primary and secondary video so that the frame buffer showed 1080i, and the analog output showed a down-conversion icon to 525i. However, the video looked funky-wrong, kind of like there was some sort of interlace issue happening.

Am I going about this right?

    Well, kinda. Funky wrong, how?

First, make sure that FCP is in the proper HD easy setup. Then go to the Kona control panel and right click and the analog output icon and choose secondary and 525i. Sometimes it takes two clicks to get this done. You should see a little downconvert icon on the analog output after that.

    Jeremy,

Funky wrong video that’s hard to describe. 🙂

It doesn’t matter. I was changing the Easy Set-up to match what I wanted as my out-going video. After following your instructions, everything now looks great. Thanks
