Disabling Track Buffering …why?
I read with interest the posts by Dag and others as to disabling track buffering to solve a crash scenario.
If John R. or someone can take a moment and help us understand what Track Buffering is actually doing in V11? Why would this be an issue? It seems to be a useful function especially with the amount of tracks that Dag is using (see below). Perhaps it’s a buggy bit of code?
John, do you normally turn it off when editing? Do you recommend turning it off?
I can assume what this does and how it does it, but I always hate turning off something that the manufacturer turns on by default unless I understand why.
Vegas help says:
Enable track bufferingSelect this check box and drag the Track buffering slider if you want to adjust the amount of audio that is prerendered ahead of the cursor position.
When the check box is selected, a separate processing thread is used to render audio from tracks. On multiprocessor or multicore computers, a thread will be created for each logical processor, resulting in improved track counts, improved performance with lower latency, and faster audio rendering.
When the check box is cleared, a single processing thread is used to render audio from tracks and busses.
Thanks in advance.
