Ok, so I just shot some TV spots for a client in HD… all looked great.

Then they tell me I need to upload them to DG Fastchannel for distribution.

DG tell me they are broadcasting in SP, so need it down converted first.

What is the best way to retain as much quality in my HD – SD downconversion?

I need a lossless conversion, because bear in mind that I will now be converting it twice… once to SD, then once using Episode to convert it to the DG Fastchannel specs for a file I can send them

    Thanks!

I do this is one step. Take HD movie in to Episode, then make an SD Mpeg movie.

What format of HD is your master?

I have a preset for you that is DG certified if you’d like it.

    It will cost you $99.99.

    Just kidding.

    Here you go:

    DGFC 720p24 to SD

    Thank you, Thank you!!

So what exactly does this do? Take my HD file and letterbox it and add the DGfasttrack encoding all at once?

Straight conversion from HD to upload-ready?

    Jeremy,

I just realized that the footage was actually shot on my HVX200… Is this preset still good for that or do you have another?

HVX is DVCPRO HD I believe… slightly different frame size but still 24 p

    thanks

Yeah, should work just fine. You have to download VLC to check the file. There will be a big black spot on the top due to the blanking required by DGFC (hence the 720×512 frame size).
