October 17, 2020 at 3:29 pmI agree…watch some videos to learn how “editing in a computer “works. Trying to follow along is tough with youtubers, as the software versions change too much. If you need to do a step by step, you may want to invest in some classes, or yes, the Blackmagic videos and book, are probably fairly up to date. Even at that, at some point with any instructional video i’ve ever gone through, you have to be able to realize that a version change has happened, and you will have to fish around to find the new equivalent item. Sounds like a pain, but fishing around is actually a good way to learn these interfaces, but yes, watch some videos to get the concepts down first, you will then find the step by step less necessary, as you will have a better understanding of what is about to happen.

October 18, 2020 at 8:09 pmYou shared “click the Icon on the left” – which icon? Name? Location? I clicked the View tab and there is no Single Pane/Window view to eliminate the 2nd window.
Also, when I drag an MP4 file from the Viewer down to the Timeline it does NOT display what’s in the video in the Viewer; it only displays the name of the video file (e.g. MP4 0135476) not the actual video.
All the YT tutorials I’ve watched (several now) none explain how to display the video in the Timeline and not the file name. Billy Rybka says there’s an Append button but never states where/how you locate that Append.
I’ve Right Clicked, as advised, in a number of places on screen but none have any drop-down menu for Append (to add more media files).
Also, unlike many of the program where you can click the Help button and search for a function like Append, DR Help does not allow that. The online manual does not offer solutions to these questions and others; it per4suemn you’ve migrated from Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premier. I’ve successfully edited several videos using another video editing program and been complimented on the editing and the video but they were much more intuitive, user-friendly and supported by an online community. Trial and error would take more time than I’m permitted and the YT videos don’t address what actions to take when your screen doesn’t display what you see in their controlled environment.
Thaanks.

November 5, 2020 at 2:13 amAll of those are good in that they make new videos with each version of resolve. Almost everything they do will work in the latest version of resolve anyway so keep your resolve to the latest version and you’ll have no dramas.
As far as specific videos – yeah there are some good general instruction videos from all of those blokes. I’d suggest going to their channels and looking at their playlists you ought to be able to find a suitable general / starter tutorial video easily enough.
If you still have dramas let me know and I’ll see what I can find for you.
