CS4 performs about 4 times worse then CS3?! Please help
Posted by Simon Dybeck on December 4, 2008 at 7:58 amHi
I have been using CS4 for a while now and it is really slow. When rendering it performs about 4 times worse than rendering from CS3. Please someone how do I fix this?I have a new Macbook Pro with 2,53ghz, 4gb ram and 9600M GT.
Thank you for any help

December 4, 2008 at 9:55 ami have been experiencing the same thing, it also seems to crash a lot. maybe our it guy did something weird, but every time i quit (command q) it crashes and i get an error message (send/ignore crash report). every single time. i think i will go back to cs3 until a 9.01 update comes out.

December 4, 2008 at 7:33 pmYou should visit the adobe.com discussions and support areas. A couple of the developers actually participate in the forums. There is a folder devoted to feedback and performance observations.

Unfortunately, it won’t accomplish much, as the track record Adobe has shown in the last couple of years is one in which they ignore all fixes until the next revision they can charge for.

Michael”Well, yeah, almost all the big dogs do that. How about Apple? Sheesh.
But the interesting thing about the last few years at Adobe has been watching Adobe Labs, where beta products are available, and watching the generally independent blogs from Adobe product managers. Their explanations of problems are usually sound and the rationalizations they offer far more reasonable than just corporate drivel.see this site, too, encouraging feedback directly from Adobe’s AE and CS4 teams:

David,
Encouraging yes, but accomplishing? Not really. So, once again, what does it matter?
There have been no real fixes in a long time and things that make some of the products unworkable go unaddressed and not fixed even in the version upgrades that users have to pay for. Some do and others don’t.
Be an Adobe fanboy if you must, but since the Macromedia incursion displaced the Adobe team and its policies, the place has gone to hell.

December 6, 2008 at 8:29 amI’m sure this solution is off the Adobe links postered further up, but a fix I tried (that worked) was to disable AE CS3 using OpenGL. 6.5 never seemed to have a problem with it, but CS3 crashed continously until I disabled that setting in the preferences. Don’t think i’ve had a problem since.

There was an undate that fixed a few of the bugs in CS3, it was called CS4.
Perhaps CS5 will squash a few of the bugs in the current version.
But there’s one thing for sure, I will not be holding my breath waiting for Adobe to fix any of the bugs with an actual update anymore. Lately, they’ve just ignored their bugs and expected users to put up with them and if they do fix any, it is in the next version.
God, I miss Adobe. Since Macromedia took over the place, it’s become a pale imitation of the great company it once was.
