Creating Chapters in Vegas that will work on Mac
Hello,
I am a long time sony vegas video editor. I love it. I’m having a problem that I can not solve. I want to use sony vegas video for editing and iDVD for DVD authoring. Right now the only way I can do that is by rendering HDV video to M2T. Then converting it to h264 with mpeg streamclip. Then taking that file and bringing it into Final Cut Pro where I can insert chapters and render AGAIN. Is there any way to render the chapters in Vegas? The chapters won’t work.
What am I missing here?!? If I can’t do it in Vegas is there a converter that will let me insert chapter markers so I don’t have to use FCP?

All DVD’s require MPEG2 video. You should be rendering an MPEG2 file from Vegas and not use MPEG Slipstream or iDVD to re-render two more times. You will get much higher quality this way and save two renders.

Only if you use DVD Architect. Vegas makes chapter files for DVD Architect. I assume FCP makes chapter files for iDVD. See what chapter formats iDVD can import and then go to the Vegas Script Menu and see if it has a script that will export that format. Otherwise it’s best to use tools from a single vendor so that they can import to each others formats.
