    Hi All,

I just got my HPX3100 last week, love it until when i try to put on the Chrosziel LWS for Panasonic Universal (401-89) which i use for the HPX2000 and HDX900. It won’t fit due to the different designs of the camera. Can someone please point me to the right direction? I can’t shoot without filters!!! Thank you.

    Cheers,
    KH

KH, we found the same issue. We own four of the new 3100’s. Luv them. You need to order the Chrosziel 401-89B or see this link https://store.zacuto.com/Zephyr300.html) . We purchased the Chrosziel’s.

Allen and KH, how do you like the 3100? I have been going around in circles about a new camera and the 3100 is on the list. I take it you don’t care bout the lack of 720p?
    Thanks.

    Hi Allen and Phil,

It is still too early for me to really give a detailed comment on the 3100 as we are very busy with projects when the camera reached our hand. Anyway, these are the first impressions:
On the appearance, it is smaller, lighter, come in “cooler” black color, and well, more plastic feel to it compared to 2000 and HDX900. We also like the SDI IN that comes as standard, a better looking LCD screen and the 5.6K filter instead of the 3.2K cross filter.

As for the picture quality, it’s a big WOW in our office, sharper, much cleaner than the 2000 (on a Pana BT-LH2600 monitor), and you can even dial in -6dB. But I am not too sure how the 3100 compete with the Sony equivalent in this respect, anyone?

The fact that it doesn’t do 720P is not bothering us as we are still keeping the 2000.

Allen, what on-camera mic do you couple with the cam, do you use the Pana AJ-MC900? I have a Sanken CMS-10 now but would like to know if i have more alternatives. Thanks.

    Cheers,
    KH

Phil and KH, we are a 1080 house only with limited acceptance of 720p. We shoot all our interviews with this camera in 1080, 23.98p. So the 3100 is perfect for us. We do not use any on-board mics. Our sound department takes care of all audio to the camera. In fact, we did not purchase any on-board mics for the cameras. We use both Fuji 22×7.8 or 23×7.6 HD standard lenses and Fuji 13×4.5 or 14×4.5 HD wide angles.

Robin, we bought the color viewfinder with the camera. Our crews were so used to the Sony color viewfinders on the F900’s and F900R’s. The color viewfinder is OK. It is not as good as the Sony’s. Our crews are getting used to them, but it is an on-going process. We did not consider the B&W’s. One other thing about the 3100’s, there is not a LUT in the eyepiece. You are always looking at a Flat Film Rec image. This is different from the 3700, in which you can apply a LUT to the viewfinder.
