  • Capturing from a file?

Posted by Adam Taylor on July 20, 2010 at 3:04 pm

Usually, I digitize my material from tapes (using Log & Capture) or from XDCam (using Log & Transfer),

but i have just come across a slightly different scenario, and i’m not sure the best way to tackle it.

I have been sent a hard disc with two huge files (30gb + on each file) – basically the each tape has been digitized into one single file.

Is there a way to ‘capture” just the sections i want to use, without having to load in such massive amounts of data?
I tried the log and transfer option but that just gives me an error message about incompatible directory structures.

    thanks in advance

Nope. You just have to copy the files to the drive you want to work on and import them. You could cut them up and run them through media manager to save space.

    All the best,
