can’t see DVCPro HD on an IMAC G5 with FCP 4.5 HD
Posted by Mickavid on September 2, 2005 at 7:46 pmHi,
I have a G5 IMAC with 2.0Ghz and 1.5GRam. I have fcp4.5HD. I have downloaded the components from Apple.com. I have read tutorials and followed all instructions.
I can’t see the footage. What do I have to do?

September 2, 2005 at 8:36 pmif the apple download updates the quicktime components that fcp uses, shouldn’t i at least see the footage? i applied the dmg file onto the imac harddrive and restarted. is there a specialty to this step?

September 2, 2005 at 8:48 pmYou might want to make sure you have the DVCPRO HD QuickTime component installed. If not, you can download version 1.1 for FCP 4.5 from here:
https://www.apple.com/support/downloads/dvcprohdcomponents.html
Hope that helps,

USB 2.0 is not fast enough for DVCPro HD from what I understand. I certainly wouldn’t use it for editing.
Are you sure it’s DVCPro HD? Usually a white screen means that you don’t have the codec installed on your machine.

September 3, 2005 at 11:04 amEither have the post house recapture the clips using a DVCPro HD preset or cut on a system that supports uncompressed 720p like the Kona 2.
