Roger. Thank you for this solution. Found this after two days of searching the internet, posting with Cow and logging with Sony Support. This thread didn’t even come up when I searched Cow for drag and drop issues. Stumbled upon it somehow. Very serendipitous!!

I knew I was running SVP12 in Admin mode but can’t for the life of me remember why I had to. I guess when things start to go wrong again I will maybe change back and see if I can still D&D (as I used to be able to I might add!!) Aaaaaaaargh.

Hello there, just came here to report my case. I was with the same Issue.

When trying to change compatibility settings I let windows check compatibility issues then it automatically detected that I must use Windows 8 compatibility as i am running windows 8.1. I changed the compatibility settings to windows 8 and it worked.

Then i included the option of “Run this program as administrator” then the problem was still there.

SO this is it. The only thing flagged as active on the compatibility tab on my Sony Vegas 13.0 64-bit is the compatibility to Windows 8. DON’T FLAG “RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR” if You already tried without success.

Thanks You all to remember me of this compatibility thing.

One thought on this, make sure to not have run as administrator checked in the vegas short cut. When I used to run Vegas as admin, I was not able to drag and drop files to the timeline. Running at standard rights allowed dragging and dropping from different open instances of Vegas and windows explorer.
