I already have audio and video tracks out. And I still can’t drag media and drop it into the project.

Yeah. I said that wouldn’t make a difference and recommended you follow John’s advice about reinstalling the software. I just wanted to make sure all the basis were covered (troubleshooting) before you had to reinstall.

Ok, I re-installed it. And it still won’t let me drag media from any open windows to sony vegas. And I can’t drag any media from Vegas to an open window.

Does Vegas Pro 9 still allow you to do this? I would submit a ticket directly to Sony concerning this.

It lets me do it on Sony Vegas Pro 9, just not on Sony Vegas Pro 10.

Do you get the slashed circle as soon as you click on the file, or only when you drop it into Vegas? If it’s the former, then Windows is not allowing the click/drag. If it’s the latter, have you tried holding the mouse over Vegas for a few seconds?

I’ve been having the same problem, except Vegas 10 won’t let me “File” “Import” either. I shoot everything on a Panny with P2 cards, and it won’t recognize the mxf files at all. Until I figure this out, I’m editing everything on Vegas Pro 9. It’s been a couple weeks. Any help is appreciated.

[Christina Knickerbocker] ” I shoot everything on a Panny with P2 cards, and it won’t recognize the mxf files at all.”

Vegas doesn’t work with native Panasonic P2 files. You need RayLight from DVFilm to make that work.

Are you saying that Vegas Pro 9.0 imports these files? Maybe you have an old copy of RayLight and just need to upgrade it for Vegas Pro 10?

    Hi there Nick!

Are you running Sony Vegas 10 ‘as an administrator’ and/or in compatibility mode?

If so; Close Vegas, right-click it’s icon and select “Properties”, then click on the “Compatibility” tab and un-check the “[ ] Run this program as an administrator”, and press “OK”.

Now try to repeat the drag-drop.

That solved my problem. I’m using Vegas 9 and was encountering the same drag&drop problem. I unchecked ‘run as administrator’ and now it works. Thanks
