Can’t Capture Video on Sony Vegas 8 with Canon Elura
Posted by Dave Croonprince on February 27, 2014 at 1:27 amHi,
I’ve been trying to use my Canon Elura to capture footage onto Sony Vegas 8 but it won’t acknowledge the camera. Any ideas why? Thanks for your help.

“The Canon Elura 100 : Connecting to a PC- Transferring Video Recordings to a Computer.“
I’ve found this for you, which you could’ve found for yourself, but look on Page 104 of the USERS Manual You can transfer recordings to a computer using the IEEE1394 (DV) terminal
Now if you HAVE done all this, AND you aren’t getting anywhere then get back here.

February 27, 2014 at 3:09 pmHi Steve,
I’m using a cable that plugs into a jack on the camera and has a usb end that goes into the computer. I have used my Panasonic dvx100a this way and it worked fine but it won’t seem to work with the Elura.

February 27, 2014 at 4:31 pmWhen you plug your camera into your computer (make sure the camera is powered on), your computer should make a little ‘bong’ sound (or some other type of little sound), and you should see an icon pop on in the system tray (by the clock). If this is not happening, then your computer is not seeing the camera (ie- the drivers to communicate between the two aren’t working properly).
If the system isn’t seeing the camera, do you have a different Firewire device you can try, as a test? Just to see if the computer recognizes the device. You also might want to check your Device Manager and make sure the Firewire port is showing up and doesn’t have a yellow triangle on it (which means it doesn’t have a working driver).
If it comes down to a driver issue, you’ll probably have to do a Google search for the appropriate driver for your computer & operating system.

February 27, 2014 at 4:57 pmHi Dave,
I just reconnected it to the computer and now it seems to be working. If it works later when I need to use – even better! Thanks for your response.

February 28, 2014 at 1:57 pmAlso, I have a mic adapter that I’m trying to use on the Elura. It’s a BeachTex DXA-4C but that doesn’t seem to work either. Not getting any audio signal when I attach it and plug the external mics in.
